Gillette WY Real Estate Market Update

We hope you had a great holiday season and an even better start to 2011!  This is an updated real estate market conditions spreadsheet.   As you can see we still have an overall absorption rate of 6 months.  This tells us we have a very balanced real estate market.  The pending home sales are down a bit since our last update, but this is typical as we come out of the holiday season.  These numbers should begin to climb as we head toward our spring market.  With just over 300 homes on the market in Gillette we are just about perfect on a healthy amount of inventory.  If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact us.  Also, if you know someone who would like to receive this monthly update please let us know.  Have a great day!

Skyline Grille Gillette WY

  Lexi and I decided to go to Skyline Grille to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary last week.  We were extremely pleased with our decision and will be returning again to enjoy more great food and service. 

 

Located at 469 S Hwy 50, Skyline Grille offers a modern cuisine unlike anyone else in Gillette.  The different combinations and fancy sauces, cheeses, etc., left us questioning if we were still in Gillette Wyoming!  We are regulars at the sushi night each month at Skyline, but hadn't been to try their regular menu items.

Lexi had the lobster carbonara which was a creamy sauce with mushrooms, preschutto, and tons of fresh lobster tail and claw meat.  I had a seafood pasta that was also absolutely fantastic.  So often you end up with all sauce and noodles and barely any seafood in most restaurants, this was quite the opposite!  There were scallops, clams, muscles, lobster, shrimp, crab, and fish in a very good sauce mixed in with some very tasty pasta. 

Our appetizer and dinner selections were fabulous and were only outdone by the chocolate cake we splurged on for desert!  It was a 3 layer chocolate cake with a dab of real whipped cream and a cocoa sauce that left you wanting more.  Pair all this up with the great bottle of wine we had, and this was a meal experience to remember!

We would recommend Skyline Grille to anyone looking for a fun modern menu with a great smoke-free atmosphere and friendly service!

The Gillette WY Real Estate market continues to be a very well balanced and healthy market.  An absorption rate over 6 is widely considered to be a buyer's market, while an absorption rate under 6 is considered to be a seller's market.  As you can see we are sitting right in between which is exactly where you want to be.  We have a great inventory of 318 homes and our numbers have not fluctuated much from 2009.  Couple these great numbers with interest rates that continue to hover down around historic lows and the bottom line is; This is a GREAT time to buy and sell Real Estate in Gillette Wyoming!!

Uncle Freddies Junkyard Grill Gillette WY

We have a new restaurant to report on here in Gillette.  Uncle Freddies Junkyard Grill located at 2209 S. Douglas Hwy (307-686-7570), is a fun new restaurant with something for everyone.

The restaurant itself is decorated like Gillette's most popular bar and Grill, Humphrey's.  However, unlike Humphrey's Uncle Freddies offers a full video game room for the kids.  There are numerous flat screen TVs all around the restaurant which make it a perfect place to watch a game.

Uncle Freddies specializes in pizza and subs but we can also attest to the fact that their 6 different wing flavors are definitely worth a shot!  While we have not had a chance to try any of the subs yet their pizzas are second to none.  If we had to make one recommendation it would be to try the "Crankshaft".  This pizza has a ranch sauce and is topped with chicken, bacon, artichoke hearts, and cheese!  It is one of the best pizzas we have ever tried and those sentiments are always echoed by the people we are dining with!  Pair all these great menu items up with something from the full bar and you've got yourself a meal you won't soon forget!

We Didn't Lose Money in Las Vegas, We Aided in Their Economic Recovery

Last weekend we took a long weekend and made a trip to Las Vegas to take in some of the glitz and glam that only Sin City can provide.  We had a great time touring the different hotels, casinos, shopping, and restaurants. 

The strip was hopping each of the three days we were there.  Most casinos seemed to be packed and the tables were full.  Perhaps the Las Vegas recession is on the mend?  We enjoy playing blackjack, three card poker and a few of the other table games.  However, all the tables we saw were $15 minimum per hand.  This makes for some short gambling sessions if you're not on the winning trail. 

Luckily there is much more to do in Las Vegas than just gambling.  We stayed at the Hard Rockwhere they happened to be filming the upcoming season om MTV's The Real World.  It was very interesting to see the camera crews chasing around a bunch of partying kids. 

The highlight of the trip had to be our dinner sunday night at Mon Ami Gabiin the Paris Hotel.  The food was absolutely outstanding from the bread and salad to the most tender fillet mignon we have ever had.  The meal was second only to the atmosphere.  We sat out on the patio on a brisk night but were kept very comfortable by the umbrella shaped heaters next to each table.  The patio is located directly across the street from The Bellagio where we were able to take in the stunning fountain shows throughout the entire meal.  This was a dining experience we won't soon forget!

Why were Bill Gates & Warren Buffett in Gillette Wyoming?

Gillette is a small northeast Wyoming town with about 30,000 residents.  We have a tight knit community with lots of open spaces.  So when a fleet of Burlington Northern private jets as well as a private jet that could rival the size of any commercial airline that flies out of here... people are going to talk.

So what the heck were Bill Gates and Warren Buffett doing in Gillette Wyoming?  Mr. Gates declined interview with our local newspaper but there has been plenty of speculation as to just what can bring two of the world's richest men here.

Rumor has it that Gates toured a local coal mine (the largest coal reserves in North America surround Gillette).  We are hoping he will be investing some serious money in clean coal technology which would help out our area tremendously.  In the November 11 issue of Rolling Stone magazine Bill Gates gives an interview on his vision for our energy future.

Whatever the reason for the visit it has created a buzz around town that has given this community something to talk about.  Hopefully all of the talk and speculation will lead to the things down the road!

Bear's Naturally Clean Dry Cleaning Gillette WY

We had to take a minute this afternoon to share with everyone the great experiences we've had at Bear's Naturally Clean Dry Cleaning here in Gillette.

Located at 305 W. Lakeway Rd  (307-685-4455) this business offers absolutely everything from convenience to great customer service to affordability. 

We don't use a dry cleaning service often.  However, each time we do we are thoroughly impressed.  Bear's offers a FREE pickup and delivery service, a drive-through pickup/drop off, and an after hours drop box; making it very convenient no matter how hectic your schedule is!  We simply put our dry cleaning into our Bear's dry-cleaning bag (they provide it to you for free) and bring it to the office where they pick up/deliver each Tuesday and Thursday. It doesn't get any easier!

Dropping off our dry-cleaning is equally simple whether we use the drive-up or go inside their beautiful state-of-the-art building.  No matter how you choose to use their services we guarantee you will be greeted with a smile and treated with some of the best customer service in town!

Whether we are dropping off our comforter, one of Lexi's dresses, or one of my suits, the prices have always been very fair.  Just last week I dropped off a dozen or so of my dress shirts to be pressed.  2 days later they showed up perfectly pressed.  My grand total... $9!  Bear's also doesn't use the harsh toxic chemicals found at many other dry cleaning businesses.

Gillette WY Real Estate Market Conditions

There are currently 395 homes available in Gillette Wyoming.  This number is elevated a bit but not abnormally so as we come out of our summer market.

There are currently 77 homes under contract in Gillette.  This shows us that homes are still moving very well.  We are very fortunate we have not had an economic slow-down nearly as severely as the rest of the country.  We have seen a lot of new construction moving over the past few months.  For a breakdown of the price ranges and neighborhoods that are most popular please contact us through our web site.

The absorption rate in Gillette sits at 7.82.  This number tells us that we have a bit more inventory than the perfectly balanced absorption rate.  However, with interest rates at an all-time low, and the amount of quality homes at reasonable prices, this is far from being a buyers OR sellers market.  Rather we are experiencing a buyers AND sellers market.  This is a great time to buy and sell Real Estate in Gillette WY!

Expresso Lube Gillette WY

We had to take a minute out of our day to rave about one of Gillette Wyoming's great new business'.  The Expresso Lube is a great idea, a great name, and is a business that is doing things the right way. 

Located at 605 W. Lakeway Rd., the Expresso Lube is a combination full service lube shop/coffee shop/diner.  We had a breakfast meeting there earlier this week and everything was absolutely fantastic.  The baristas were friendly and efficient and the quality of the coffee, steamers, iced drinks, Italian sodas, and lattes were head and shoulders above any other coffee shop in town...INCLUDING STARBUCKS!

Expresso Lube is quickly becoming famous for their mouthwatering paninis.  They offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch paninis at very reasonable prices.  We can vouch that the Ranch Club is one that will keep you coming back for more! 

The food doesn't stop there.  Espresso Lube also offers several different soups, salads, wraps, and hard ice cream in a clean tastefully decorated coffee shop environment; complete with several flat screen tv's, a fireplace, and wireless internet. 

We were so impressed with the food we haven't even gotten to the lube service yet.  The garage (which is every bit as clean as the restaurant) is quick, courteous, thorough, and has prices that can rival anywhere in town.  The professional service won't soon be forgotten.

We are glad we discovered the Expresso Lube and would recommend it to anyone looking for a blue collar business that greets you with a smile when you arrive and leaves you with a smile when you go.

There are currently 403 homes on the market in Gillette Wyoming.  This number may seem high but it is also a bit misleading.  We are just wrapping up the summer market in which there are historically more homes on the market.  We also have lots of new construction homes on the market in the very beginning stages which may inflate the total homes on the market as well as the absorption rate which is currently just over 8 months. 

There are currently 74 homes under contract.  Many of these homes, as WE mentioned before are new construction.  With the historically low interest rates and the abundance of quality homes on the market this is a great time to buy or sell Real Estate in Gillette!

A few more statistics that may interest you from the past six months are the average list price which stands at $237,436 and the average sold price is $218,761.  There have been 334 home sales in the last six months with an average days on market of 129 days.

Massachusetts Gets 2 Thumbs up!

A recent wedding invitation gave us the opportunity to make our first trip out to the east coast.  The wedding took place in Pittsfield /Lenox, MA.  It was a beautiful ceremony with equally beautiful venues for the wedding and reception Guests were treated to fabulous food and dancing at the luxurious Cranwell Resort & Spa

Everyone in the Pittsfield area was friendly and upbeat as we made our way around town.  People were always willing help and always prepared with a smile and a good morning, good afternoon, and good night.  This was especially true in the case of Steven Valenti of Steven Valenti Clothing for Men.  We had a last minute emergency with my tuxedo for the wedding.  Steve was very helpful, calming, and quick to act in a stressful situation.  He helped Lexi identify the problem and had her back on the road in a jiffy!

After the wedding festivities we headed back east to Cape Cod for the afternoon.  We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed strolling up and down the docs looking at boats and taking in the sights & sounds.

Over the next several days we toured Boston including a stroll along The Freedom Traila baseball game at historic Fenway Park, and the best lobster and clam "chowda" we have ever had at Legal Seafoods!  We wish we could have seen everything Boston has to offer, but we just ran short on time.  However, We did create some fantastic memories and would recommend Massachusetts to anyone looking for a friendly travel destination!

Sushi in Gillette WY!?!

Lexi & I are both avid sushi fans.  While I tend to be a bit more adventurous, she is coming around to trying new and different things.  One of the biggest obstacles in our passion for this delicacy is our proximity to the ocean. It used to be we would have to wait until a trip to Denver ( over 5 hours away)  to find a high-quality sushi dinner.  Though Colorado is no closer to the ocean, Denver is a big city with many sushi options!

Our favorite sushi restaurant is by far the Sushi Den.  For those of you who haven't been to or heard of Sushi Den, it is a first class sushi restaurant from the service to the atmosphere to the food.  Some online reviews say that Sushi Den can rival any sushi restaurant in the country. We also have had good experiences at a Casper Wyoming sushi/thai  restaurant called Dsasumo.  However, Casper is still a two-hour drive from our Northeastern Wyoming town of Gillette

We now have a new option for quality sushi right here in Gillette!  The Skyline Grille opened about a year ago as a modern steak and seafood restaurant.  We had only been there one time for dinner, and were very pleased with   Our meals.  A few months ago Skyline begin posting a monthly sushi night.  They fly in fresh fish from Honolulu and offer quite a few different options.  The first few months the race was a bit sweet and had a creamy texture to it.  The chefs have been very open to suggestions and have the since corrected the problem.  The fish has been awesome since day one.

Gillette Wyoming New Development and Real Estate

It's hard to believe 2010 is already half over!  We have had such a great start to the year for the Gillette WY real estate market as well as the community of Gillette  as a whole. 

The first 6 months of the year we have seen a very high volume of homes moving.  New construction continues to be the hottest seller but some of the older and higher end homes have been moving lately as well.  We anticipated a drop off in home sales with the expiration of the tax credits.  However, we have been pleasently surprised that homes have continued to move very well.  We can attribute this to the amount of quality homes on the market coupled with interest rates that continue to hover around all time lows.

Gillette as a community has had a great start to 2010 as well.  There have been numerous grand openings including those of the 'Close to Home' Hospice Hospitality House and the highly anticipated opening of the brand new $52 million dollar Campbell County Recreation Center!  We are so fortunate to have so many amenities in this community.  It is truly a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.  We are proud to call Gillette Wyoming home!
